Late 15th century gothic
The territory of Gipuzkoa has some of the finest examples of urban palaces from the late Middle Ages. And despite its poor state of conservation, the Segura palace is one of them. It was built by Nicolás Guevara, a butler to the Catholic Kings in the late 15th century. In the 18th and 19th centuries it was used as a lodging with the name "Jostuntxiki".
The main facade is made of very high quality ashlar masonry. Access is through a semicircular arch with large springers and it’s supported by very thin columns and capitals. The escutcheon of the Catholic Kings appears above the arch with the coats of arms of Guevara and Larristegi beside it.
Coupled windows with trefoil arches are conserved on the ground floor. The cornice maintains three of its original five gargoyles (with Archangel Gabriel surrounded by two wolves), and the building has lost the towers that were located on both ends.
